| Students targeted by new file-sharing bill
This is a big deal, folks! A number of student bodies have already blanketed their Congressional delegations with letters and phone calls, citing their frustration with the proposed legislation. Would be great if Yalies did the same (read: it does actually make a difference... sometimes). While you are home for the holidays, thinking of ways to amuse yourself - let both your hometown's congressional delegations and New Haven's delegates know that this type of legislation is NOT the solution to the MPAA's current war on piracy. The US music/movie industry needs a facelift, regardless - putting the onus on unemployed college students is irresponsible. - DC-based alum .
STATE OF THE STATE: Text of Delaware governor's prepared address
Lieutenant Gov. Carney, President Pro Tem Adams, Speaker Spence, members of the 144th General Assembly, members of the Delaware judiciary, other elected officials, members of my Cabinet, state employees, distinguished guests, my family and my fellow Delawareans I am particularly proud to appear before you for this State of the State address as it kicks off my last year as your Gov.. As you all know, my career in elected public office started in this Chamber, where so much of what I worked on as your Gov. began as a priority for me as a legislator. My annual appearances before you, my legislative friends, have not only been an opportunity to remember my roots but also reaffirm my long-standing priorities, such as creating world-class schools, protecting our precious environment, fighting to keep and create jobs, and working to make Delaware a healthier state.

Well, it's almost time for me to head off to Australia. Tomorrow, actually, but this might be my last chance to get in a blog before then. I will try to blog while there but won't promise. Christmas is over and it was quite a pleasant one. My son visited from Las Vegas and he said he had a good time. It looks like he is set on going back to college full time to qualify as an accountant. He did one class last semester and got an A, so it looks like he should do OK in that field. He has quite a bit of money coming to him for education from the time he spent in the United States Air Force; at least enough for about two years of college. We spent Christmas Eve morning at my wife's parents then headed to Pensacola Beach, Florida to where my wife's sister and family live. Lots of gifts were handed around and we all ate and drank too much.

I never saw him do anything that would give me any indication that he was doing something wrong," said Mr. Sarpalius, who said he thinks Mr. Siljander might have got involved in something he did not fully understand. The indictment from the U.S. District Court for the Western Division of Missouri charges Mr. Siljander with conspiracy, money laundering and lying to the FBI about lobbying for the Islamic American Relief Agency, which raised about $130,000 that went to Osama bin Laden associate Gulbuddin Hekmatyar. Debbie Schlussel, a Detroit-based conservative commentator, worked as an intern and junior legislative aide at Mr. Siljander's congressional office in the mid-1980s and said she was shocked at news of the indictment. .
