Over 170 arrested at Scottish base

The world is an amazing place yet the mentality of the military minded is ignorant of this as throughout history the sadly flawed have seen it as their right to collectively destroy it as they seek superiority over others. RAB some people do care about the state of affairs regarding these onerous tools for MORONS. The problem is that there are far too many of them. Both the weapons and the MORONS who control them. .

UPA govt dividing people: Rajnath Singh

We demand that farmers should be provided with cheaper loans and they should get farm income insurance cover instead of crop insurance, said Mr Rajnath adding that his party would raise issues pertaining to Indo-US deal, snooping in sensitive areas in the Parliament.

It is for the first time in the history that a government is trying to re-introduce a Bill (Office of Profit Bill), which, has been returned by the President, without effecting any changes in it. It is amazing.

Coming to Punjab, Mr Rajnath Singh announced that the SAD-BJP combine would contest Assembly elections under the leadership of Mr Parkash Singh Badal. He also projected Mr Badal as , Future CM, and said the people were suffering under Mr Amarinder Singh-led state government. He lauded role of the Hind Samachar Group of Newspapers in countrys fight against terrorism and said sacrifices of groups family members and 62 employees of the group failed to deflect Vijay Kumar Chopra, Managing Editor of Hind Samachar, or affect his determination against terrorism.

The Crunchies: And the winners are…

Posted in:

General Web Technology

Last night the San Francisco Web 2.0 crowd filled the high society Herbst Theatre for the Crunchies, a people's choice award program hosted by my friends from TechCrunch, GigaOm, Venture Beat and ReadWriteWeb. You can watch a replay of the event here, courtesy of Mogulus.

The winners were thankfully limited to 30-second acceptance speeches, and The Richter Scales performed their now famous (in the echo chamber) "Here comes another bubble" live. The funniest moment of the evening (video here) came from Dan Lyons, also known as Fake Steve Jobs, who accepted the award for best gadget (the iPhone) in lieu of Apple sending anyone to pick up the statue.

Eric Halvorson's Blog

He said they did not discuss Ballard's plan to take control of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

The merger of the former IPD and the Marion County Sheriff's Department put that power in the Sheriff's hands. Ballard has said the authority belongs in the Mayor's Office.

Sheriff Anderson says the question of control should be put forward in a referendum. He says voters should decide who controls the department. And, he says voters should decide whether the consolidation should be reversed.

I asked the Mayor-elect about that proposal. He said, "I don't think we're ever going to come to that. People know what I ran on. I said that up front, repeatedly. I think we've had that referendum. That said, Sheriff Anderson is a great public servant. A great man. No problem whatsoever on that. I'm not here to pick a fight.

Volunteers brighten lives with Thanksgiving meal

Strangers, even," Pitts said as she ate Thanksgiving dinner Thursday with her family at the Salvation Army's annual Thanksgiving Day lunch.

Salvation Army Capt. Roy Harris estimated that about 300 people came to the dining hall to eat. Another 250 plates were prepared and delivered to those who were not able to come to the shelter on Bell Street. Harris said the Thanksgiving day meal is part of the "practical expression" of the Salvation Army's mission of sharing love, kindness and generosity to those in need.

Volunteer Mae Cohen couldn't agree more.

"It just makes me feel good to see that everyone got Thanksgiving dinner," said Cohen, a first-grade teacher who said she was especially glad to have helped children.

Through donations, the Salvation Army was able to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal with all the fixings.

P-I Sports Star Award Winner: Sarah Martinez

Martinez came to Seattle Pacific with some impressive credentials as a two-time state 1A player of the year, but she was only getting started.

Martinez was a four-time, first-team All-Conference selection and two-time GNAC player of the year who tallied 17 goals and nine assists with seven game-winning goals as a senior. SPU won three GNAC championships with Martinez, which included four trips to the NCAA Tournament and two visits to the Final Four.

This season, she helped guide the Falcons to an SPU-record 23-0 mark and a No. 2 national ranking before the team suffered a loss in the national semifinals.

She also was a two-time All-American and the 2007 Daktronics Women's All-Far West Region player of the year.

"I'm really satisfied with what I accomplished," Martinez said.
